- 1 box. (20 oz.) Bran flakes (cheapest brand you can find)
- 4 oz. Colby or Cheddar cheese (grated)
- 4 oz. Honey
- 3 cups flour
- 1 pkg. cherry Kool-Aid (pkg.. size - to make 2 quarts)
- 3 tbsp. Garlic powder
- 1 tsp. Anise oil (can be purchased at most drug stores or "Jann's Netcraft" www.jannsnetcraft.com)
- 2 cups water
Instructions for mixing
- Pour bran flakes in a VERY LARGE bowl and crush with the bottom of a drinking glass.
- Add flour, cheese, Kool-Aid, garlic powder & honey.
- Add water and anise oil to the mixture.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Knead mixture until it is smooth (about 10 min.).
Shape into a large pancake, smooth a little flour on both sides of the pancake and put into a 1 gal. size "Zip Lock" bag.
- Put into the zer and it is ready to go.
HINTS
This mixture will keep for a very long time if you keep it in a cooler or zer when not in use. I do not use any weight on my rig, I let the bait be the weight and fish with a slack line. I have found that "Galmakatsu " octopus circle hooks work very well, they cost a little more but worth every penny. I use a #1 or #2 size hook most of the time and a min. line weight of 20# "Golden Stren".
MAKE SURE that your tackle is VERY HEFTY and in GOOD shape.
Final hint: Tie your butt to a large tree or car bumper and GO FISHING !!
