[Chain User Fees]

  • PROCESSING FEE - $4 - A fee is charged to applicants filling out a new application and to renewal applicants not using their ucrrent renewal forsm.

  • OUT OF STATE - $20 - A fee per permit will be charged for boats registered out of the State of Illinois. Proof of state registration may be required. (Temporary permits are exempt.

  • CLASS A - $30 - Motor powered boats of less than 15 HP.

  • CLASS B - $60 - Motor powered boats of 15 HP or more, not exceeding 25 feet in length.

  • CLASS C - $100 - Motor powered boats of 15 HP or more, greater than 25 feet in length, not exceeding 30 feet in length.

  • CLASS D - $100 - Transferable plate for dealers and antique boats (30 or more years of age).

  • CLASS E - $120 - Motor powered boats of 15 hp or more and greater than 30 feet in length.

  • CLASS L - $20 - Livery boats - Commercial Use Only. A fleet of 10 or more boats less than 17 feet in length and less than 25 HP. Office purchase only.

  • CLASS O - $30 - Non-motor power boats of more than 17 feet in length.

  • CLASS P - $60 - Personal Watercraft, Waverunners, Jet Skis

  • 1 DAY TEMPORARY PERMIT - $10 - Any class boat.

  • CLASS W - $20 - Any boat involved in waterfowl hunting activity, without a current sticker. Available August 15 through March 31, yearly.

  • CLASS X - NON-MOTOR BOATS - $10 - 17 feet or less in length.

  • 5 DAY TEMPORARY PERMIT - $20 - Any class boat. Not to exceed five consecutive days. Processing fees do not apply to purchase of temporary permits.

  • LOST STICKERS - $5 - The holder of a User Sticker that has been lost, shall be re-issued a User Sticker for the balance of the year upon the filing of an application and payment of a $5.00 fee. Proof of original purchase is required.

  • TRANSFER POLICY - $5 - There is a $5.00 charge for a transfer in addition to any charges for an upgrade in class. Applies to original owner only. Original stickers must be presented when applying for transfer.

  • DUPLICATE PURCHASES - $5 - Refunds requested for duplicate permit purchases for the same boat and same owner, shall be issued upon proof of duplicate purchase and return of one permit in reusable condition. The refund will be for the sticker fee only, less a $5.00 fee. Requests for refunds must be made within a reasonable length of time.

  • REFUND POLICY - NO REFUNDS will be issued after April 1st of each boating season.
